Click-Through Rate (CTR)

CTR (Click-Through Rate) is the percentage of people who click your ad after seeing it. It's a core signal of how relevant and compelling your ad is to the audience.

FormulaCTR = (Clicks ÷ Impressions) × 100%

Example

1,000 impressions and 20 clicks → CTR = (20 ÷ 1,000) × 100 = 2%.

Why it matters

CTR feeds ad-ranking systems like Google Quality Score — higher CTR can lower your CPC. But very high CTR with low conversion can signal misleading creative, so read it with conversion rate.

FAQ

What is a good CTR?
Search ads often see 3–6%+ on brand terms and ~1–3% on generic terms; social display ads are frequently under 1%. Compare to the norm for your network and placement.
Does CTR affect cost?
Yes on auction platforms — a higher expected CTR improves ad rank / relevance scores, which can reduce your CPC for the same position.
