When you connect a Google Ads or Meta account inside AdPlus, you don’t type in a username and password. You click a button, get redirected to Google or Meta, confirm you want to allow access, and land back in AdPlus with your account connected. The whole thing takes about ten seconds.
That’s OAuth. And it’s one of the least glamorous parts of AdPlus, which makes it one of the most important ones to understand.
What OAuth Actually Is
OAuth is an authorization protocol. That’s the technical version. The plain-English version: it’s a system that lets you prove who you are and grant access to your accounts without ever handing over your actual password.
When you click “Connect with Google” in AdPlus, here’s what happens under the hood. AdPlus sends you to Google. Google checks that it’s really you, then asks if you want to give AdPlus permission to manage your campaigns. You say yes. Google passes back a secure token, not your credentials, and AdPlus uses that token to act on your behalf.
Your Google password never touches AdPlus’s servers. It never leaves Google. AdPlus just gets a wristband that says “this person said it’s okay.”
That wristband has an expiration date. When it runs out, the process re-runs quietly in the background so you don’t have to reconnect anything manually. If something changes on your end — you revoke access, change your password, log in from a new device — the token gets invalidated and you’ll be prompted to re-authenticate. That’s a feature, not a bug. It means your account access is always in your control.

Why It Matters That AdPlus Never Sees Your Passwords
Managing paid campaigns across 12 networks means AdPlus needs to read data, make updates, and push changes to Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, and the rest. The old way to do this was credential sharing: you’d give a platform or agency your login, they’d use it, and you’d hope for the best.
OAuth eliminates that entirely. There’s no credential sharing because there are no credentials to share. Each connection is a discrete permission granted directly by you through the platform that owns the data. And you can revoke any of them at any time, directly in Google, Meta, LinkedIn, or wherever, without touching anything inside AdPlus.
For agencies managing client accounts, this distinction is significant. Clients don’t have to hand over login credentials to grant access. They authenticate through their own account, grant the permission, and the connection is live. When the engagement ends, they revoke it through their own platform settings. AdPlus never had the keys in the first place.
How This Makes the AdPlus Workflow Actually Work
The practical consequence of OAuth isn’t just security. It’s what makes a unified dashboard across 12 networks possible at all.
Each connection to a network runs through that network’s own OAuth flow. When you connect Google Ads, you’re authenticating with Google. When you connect Meta, you’re authenticating with Meta. AdPlus holds a token for each. That token is what lets AdPlus pull live performance data, push campaign updates, sync changes, and generate reports across all your networks from a single interface.
Without OAuth, you’d have two options: manage each platform separately in its own interface (which is the problem AdPlus is designed to solve), or give AdPlus your credentials and trust them to handle access responsibly. Neither scales. OAuth does.
When you make a change inside AdPlus, that change goes out to each connected network using its token. When you update a headline, add a creative, or shift budget, AdPlus handles the network-by-network execution. You made one change. It propagated through all the right authentication flows automatically.

Get started →The Connection Experience Inside AdPlus
Connecting a network takes about 30 seconds. You go to the Connections page, select the network you want to add, click Connect, and you’re redirected to that network’s OAuth screen. Authenticate, grant permissions, and you’re back in AdPlus with the account live.
If you manage multiple clients, each workspace has its own independent set of connections. Connecting Google Ads in one client workspace doesn’t affect any other. Tokens are scoped to the workspace, not the user, so there’s no risk of data bleeding between accounts.
The Connections page also shows the status of every active connection at a glance. You can see which accounts are connected, which need to be refreshed, and which you’ve added but haven’t used yet. If a token expires or gets revoked, the status updates and you’ll know exactly which connection needs attention before it affects a live campaign.
FAQ
Does AdPlus store my ad platform passwords?
No. AdPlus uses OAuth for all network connections, which means your passwords are never transmitted to or stored by AdPlus. Authentication happens directly between you and the platform (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, etc.), and AdPlus receives only a secure access token in return. Your credentials stay with the platform that issued them.
What happens if I revoke AdPlus’s access to one of my ad accounts?
If you revoke access directly in Google, Meta, or another platform, the corresponding token in AdPlus becomes invalid. AdPlus won’t be able to read data or push updates for that account until you reconnect it. The revocation is immediate and entirely within your control. No data already synced is deleted, but no new data will flow until the connection is re-established.
Can multiple team members connect the same ad account?
In AdPlus, connections are set at the workspace level, not the individual user level. Once an account is connected to a workspace, all members of that workspace with the appropriate permissions can work with it. They don’t each need to authenticate separately. The connection lives in the workspace and is shared across everyone who has access to it.
How does OAuth handle accounts that require two-factor authentication?
OAuth redirects you to the platform’s own authentication flow, which includes whatever security requirements that platform has set up. If your Google account requires 2FA, you’ll go through that process as part of the OAuth flow. AdPlus doesn’t bypass or interact with 2FA directly. It just receives the token after authentication is complete.
Do OAuth tokens expire and what happens when they do?
Yes, tokens expire. The timing varies by platform, but AdPlus handles token refresh automatically in most cases, so you don’t need to manually reconnect accounts on a schedule. If a token can’t be refreshed automatically, you’ll see a status indicator on the Connections page and be prompted to re-authenticate. Live campaigns are not interrupted by token expiration; AdPlus will alert you before connectivity is affected.
The Quiet Infrastructure Behind a Unified Dashboard
OAuth doesn’t show up in any marketing copy. There’s no feature announcement for it. But it’s what makes a 12-network dashboard possible without creating a security nightmare or asking every client to hand over their login.
The connection experience is fast because OAuth is designed to be. The security model is sound because the credentials never leave the platforms that issued them. And the ability to revoke, refresh, and manage access independently is built into how the protocol works.
It’s not the exciting part of what AdPlus does. It’s just the part that has to work perfectly every time for everything else to be possible.
